Hand-rendered Type Poster
For this project I worked with hand-rendered type and modular grids to create an expressive and artistic poster. I chose the song Notion by Kings of Leon to design for and let my layout show the meaning behind the lyrics.
My goal for this project was to successfully implement a unique design solution that that would speak to my audience. The design was required to be primarily type and could include my own imagery as well as digital type.
Final Design
Overall I wanted to use a design solution that was creative, alternative, grunge-like, and chaotic in style, with a simple color palette. The ideal design solution would showcase the song Notion by Kings of Leon.
I began the visual research portion of my design process by observing work from other designers on Behance and Pinterest.

The next steps of my design process was to make thumbnails and sketches, conduct color and type studies as well as create lettering and other illustrations. Though the entire process was quite time consuming, I was able to explore three different design solutions before arriving to the final comp. Check out my notes and process documents below.
